Appointing a Task Force to Examine Reassessment Issues

The proposed task force would include diverse expertise and community representation:
- At least 4 County Council members
- Finance Committee Co-Chair
- Community Services Committee Co-Chair
- Board of Assessment Review representative
- Land Use Dept. General Manager
- Department of Finance representative
- Senior/retired individuals advocate
- Board of Realtors representative
- Taxation expert with reassessment experience
- Other relevant experts
- 3-5 volunteer community representatives
Proposed Task Force Mission
- Examine issues or concerns from past reassessments to guide future reassessments
- Identify any systemic issues and investigate for burdensome taxes and their causes
- Gather public input through meetings and listening sessions
- Assess and recommend policy and regulatory changes for Council consideration
- Submit final report by March 2, 2026
Next Reassessment Timeline
The next reassessment must begin within two years (to be completed by 2030). According to the resolution, this timing allows for studying past reassessment outcomes before the next cycle begins.
Ongoing Concerns
